Bigger budgets, bigger marketing teams, more sophisticated technology, and brand recognition that small operators could not match. The story was that family-owned businesses needed to differentiate on service or specialty or community connection, because they were never going to win the digital marketing war.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">That story was mostly accurate ten years ago. It is no longer accurate today.
